Hi, I'm looking for tires for my 96 ranger. I'm 17, just bought my first truck. I grew up in a town where your truck showed who you were. I know what tires I want on my ranger, but they're ungodly expensive. I'm trying to find 265/75r15. 245s would be better for me but I cant seem to find them online. Does anyone know where I could find reasonably priced tires? I like the look of Ohtsu At4000, Mastercraft courser Mt, and cooper discoverers stt. Ohtsu are the cheapest I can find but I can't find reviews anywhere.

My driving conditions:
-Rock
-Mud
-Lots of snow/ice
-some sand

My credo
Leave it better than you found it.
Have you ever looked at Nexen tires? They offer an MT that looks pretty meaty. I've had a set of their Roadian AT II's on my Ranger for 4+ years now and have been very happy with them. Good traction and long wear.

265 75r15 are the same size as 31" tires, so that might open up some more options for you. I got a set of Falken 31" to replace the rotted out 265 wranglers a few years ago on my Ranger, paid about 600 out the door at Discount Tire. I have seen that size tire go for 450 as well, so look around.

Word of caution:

My truck came from the factory with the 265 tires and a 2 inch lift. if you do not have the lift and you run a really wide 31" you might rub when turning the wheels... there are others that can chime in on what fits under an unlifted Ranger.

If you like the Cooper and Mastercraft (pretty sure they're the same company) ask a local dealer if they can get the GoForm tires in the size you want. IDK if they are available in anything besides 235/75r15 or 30-9.5-r15. The ones I ended up with look amazingly similar to the Discoverer ATP. The ride is good with no crazy droning. That probably doesn't matter to you though since you're looking at MTs.

Treadwrights are also an economical choice. Ohtsu tires are fairly new and haven't been out long enough for a review...

I actually used to have the Nexen Roadian MT's and they were nice aggressive tires and weren't noisy goin down the road. They were cheap too and had really good mud tire design. I think I got a set of 235/75/15's for around $400. That was about 8-10 years ago though. They were on a little Nissan truck and it did great with those tires. The tire size you described are really wide for a 15" rim. Might even be too wide if you have a stock rim. Just keep that in mind when buying tires to make sure your rims are wide enough.
