My credo
The perfect is the enemy of the good.
Why is it that in almost every pic of used Ranger dash there is a hole or blocked off hole to the upper right of the radio?
Even if there is 12V Aux outlet looks like they moved it to the lower right.
Cig lighter in normal lower left usually
4x4 elec xft switch in usual place
it's only that upper right where it just looks like something is missing and I see it over and over

That's a 12v power port, my '97 has 3 on the dash factory, one where the 4x4 switch would be, one to the upper right of the stereo and one next to the ash tray where the passenger air bag switch would be if it had one... that lower one is useless if you have a drink of any form in the cup holder around the shifter...

OK, but in a lot of them that upper right hole is just blank, looks like nothing there, and I saw one where the 12V was on the lower hole.
So I still don't get what the lower hole is for.
I agree on cupholder if there is one around there.
On my truck there is just 2 holes cig lighter and 12V
I'm looking at 4x4 trucks so the upper right is that switch, lower is cig, upper right is 12V, but it still leaves one hole
Here is an example and I see it a lot I see the 4x4 switch, the cig light (missing lighter unit) on the left, and I see 12V aux on the lower right... what's the upper right? that's what I'm talking about
Looks like something was intended to go there but isn't there?

Ok, maybe the 12v port is lower... on both of my explorers the rear wiper switch is there, no idea why they would blank it out like that , there's like 3 molds for that panel... why would they use the rear wiper version?

That bezel is also used on the Explorer and Sport Trac.
It’s for the rear wiper on the Explorer.
And the rear window on the Sport Trac.

OK that answer it, and also tells me that is some pretty careless build practice to put this bezel when it cannot possibly be used on this model.
Can't think of what else you'd do with it since it doesn't look like you could easily make it to another 12v outlet.

You could always do some custom fiberglass work like I did in my Explorer…

It's the passenger airbag off light.

Appears to be 2007 and up Rangers

Are you certain that is the factory bezel for your truck? I don't recall 99 4x4 doesn't have an open hole like that, but it has been a long time since I messed with it.

My '99 has only 2 holes see (prev post) it's not the issue. Mazda didn't have empty holes as far as I know.
I'm looking at 4x4's to buy maybe someday thus the question because absent the explanation when I see a blank place it makes me say to myself "something is missing" and turns out what was missing was the simple solution of using a bezel that is appropriate for the truck you're building.
Passenger off airbag is lower on down on my '99.
I don't know if the '07 Ranger had pass off airbag I don't see it on that dash but you would think they would have it.
@snoranger are you saying you made this bezel?

Made, no. I took a stock bezel and modified it.

Where's the fog light switch on an '07 Ranger?
