I've searched a little, and can't find anything.
Has anybody done a 5.0l v8 swap using a 96 Explorer engine harness, but retain the 94 Ranger dash?
I'm kind of stuck on my swap, because this 96 Explorer dash and body harness isn't going into my 4.0l 94 Ranger like I thought it would.

yeah.

you make the engine harness and controls stand alone.

use your sensors and gauge wiring for those applications.

the ac can be a bit tricky, and depending on the cruise controll vss setup that can also be easy or hard.

i am much too lazy to work so hard swapping whole wiring setups. though on the later cammer stuff you have to move systems due to can-bus....which in a ford application is the least of the problems. the new anti-theft is patently retarded.

I guess I'll have to look into making it stand alone.
If I end up with no cruise or A/C, I won't be too worried about it.
I'll have to look into that I guess. My wipers won't even work with this Explorer harness.
My worry too, was things like the overdrive button. I guess things like that would just be hooked up to a new button on the dash.

Posted in your other thread, but use all of your 94 harness, cut the plugs feeding the stock engine on the engine side, and hook the 42 pin plug from the ex 5.0l to that. With the 96-97 ex 5.0l, I can have that motor running in a lawnmower with just 6 wires from the 42 pin plug. I can supply you the wiring info on the 42 pin plug if needed...

So the big square plug, can basically be spliced into the 3 (I think) connectors that fed the 4.0l?
I wouldn't think there's many that will need to be spliced, because most of them go back to the 4.0l computer.

If you have the wiring info readily availible, it'd be awesome! Of not I'm sure I can find it between google and the Explorer manual.

Yes, you are correct. There's a good chance not all the 4.0l's wires will be used, and I know not all the 5.0 wires will be used. I'll send you the info..
