I understand that this code refers to the DPFE sensor. I changed my DPFE less that 2,000 Miles ago. Surely this isn't the problem. When i accelerate fast from a stop it throws code 1405. If I clear it and drive without accelerating fast it will stay off for weeks. Where should i start my search. Maybe the EGR valve?

Thanks

I miss my '93, silly emissions sensors!

P1405 - DPF EGR Sensor Upstream Hose Off or Plugged .

While driving, the EGR monitor commands the EGR valve closed and checks the differential pressure across the EGR orifice. The test fails when the signal from the DPF EGR sensor indicates EGR flow is in the negative direction.

Upstream hose is disconnected
Upstream hose is plugged (ice)
Plugged or damaged EGR tube

Look for signs of water or icing in hose
Verify hose connection and routing (no excessive dips)
Verify DPF EGR sensor proper mounting and function (view DPF EGR PID while applying and releasing vacuum directly to sensor with a hand pump)

Right out of the service manual. Give some direction.

Ok thanks, I'll pull the tubes and check them for blockages, though ice is unlikely its been in the 90's for months :D . I think the sensor is in the stock location, however it is not "mounted" it is just on the hoses, though the hoses are fairly rigid. Is it supposed to be more secured than that?

Thanks

Both hoses would be under pressure right? wouldn't they have to be under vacuum to collapse, i mean unless they are just tremendously cheesy hoses. I would expect them to look like balloons under pressure if that was the case :D
