I replaced my clutch in a 2004xlt with a 4.0 and like a dummy crushed the upstream passenger side o2 sensor. I got a replacement connector with a pigtail but could really use a wiring diagram. Does anyone have this? Is is possible to fry the ECM if I do it wrong? The truck is angry! Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!

Black is signal wire, grey is ground, the two white are heater and can go either way.

Which O2 sensor, drivers side or passenger side?

Assuming upstream O2

Those wire colors are not matching my 2004 4.0l diagrams

And there wouldn't be 2 red/white wires on the one connector

There should be one grey/red wire, its on almost every sensor, but it can be orange, no stripe

OK thats good

Sensor 1 1
wires we see are
Grey/red
Light blue/orange
White/red
Grey/light blue

That matches
grey/red and grey/light blue are the sensor wires

Light blue/orange and White/red are the heater wires

So you want to use the O2 sensors plug to match wires

Pin Diagram here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=600&stc=1&d=1062542771

Grey/red is sig rtn
grey/light blue is HO2S sig

Light blue/orange is VPWR 12v key on
White/red is HO2S HTR ground for heater at computer

Thanks for the help with the diagrams. The truck seems to be running good now and I took it to a shop to have the codes reset and the engine light is off for now! Now to get the clutch dialed in.

This is a follow up on the O2 sensor wire splice. I spliced the wires per the diagram and to it to a local "mechanic" to have the codes reset. His reader showed a bad o2 sensor on the side I spliced so I had him replace it while it was at his shop. There were actually 4 codes. 1. Battery voltage High 2. Battery voltage Low 3. On-Board Diagnostics Systems Readiness Test Incomplete 4. o2 Sensor Signal Stuck Lean Bank#1 Sensor#1. When I went to leave I started the truck and the engine light cam back on. He said it read the sensor on the drivers side was bad.....so I had him replace that. Then I went to start it again and the light came on and said bad transfer case ground. I got the sense he had no idea what was happening, his suggestion was to just drive with it on. Obviously I am not going to give this guy any more money, but the battery high and low codes and now the transfer case code is now on. Does anyone have any ideas? Should I just not worry about it and keep driving? It seems to be driving ok.

Random codes generally mean voltage problems. Test your battery and alternator.

If it ain't broke, break it.
And buy a OBD 2 code reader. They're cheap.

The battery is at 12.4v before starting and 14.5v running. That means the battery and alternator are good right? I am going to get a code reader.

Yes, but voltage should drop below 14v after 5mins or so, or it will ruin the battery
After driving and coming home DO NOT shut off the engine
Open the hood and test battery voltage, 13.5-13.8v is expected
