I've got a 1983 Ranger with the 2.8L....2wd and manual transmission. It still has the EEC-VI.
When cold, the idle is rough. Once warmed up though, the idle is smooth.
When the engine is still cold and whenever the engine is placed under a load, it looses power. It is like it is not getting fuel.
Once the engine is warmed up and engine is placed under a load, it sometimes looses power. I can be traveling 70 mph and all of a sudden, the truck looses power. I then floor the gas pedal and power returns like it should. This problem does not happen all the time though.
Why does the truck run great at wide open throttle?
I will be checking for codes sometime later in the week or during the weekend. Does it sound like a fuel filter problem to anyone.
Thanks for anyones help...
