Truck is a 1990 Bronco II with a 1991 Explorer 4.0 installed. It has a new positive battery cable installed as well as a new solenoid in the engine compartment next to the battery. I'm getting one loud clang type sound when I turn the key to the start position, but it won't turn over. What would you suggest I try to get it to turn over?

Yeah, climb under and listen to the starter while someone turns the key. I bet the starter is kicking out but not turning.

Ok, it is the starter, so next question. I see Amazon has one for $47 shipped, or am I better off going with one of them from Advanced/Autozone which are like 3 times the cost?

Screw amazon.

I wouldnt even buy one from autozone/advanced unless you wanna change it 2 or 3 times in the next few weeks.

Try autovalue/napa.

Ok, I bought a Ford starter. Just put it in and same thing. I had my kid turn the key to start and I can hear/feel the click at the solenoid on the fender and also at the starter. The truck was running fine prior to this happening so I can't imagine how the motor could have locked up. Any other suggestions? Thanks

Well, I got her up and running again! Turned out the negative cable wasn't tight where it attaches to the block. It was hooked up enough for the lights to work and for some current to get through, but not enough for it to start. Found that out when I bought a new negative cable to replace the old old one.
