I drove to the store today, and when I came out, it wouldn't start, I could hear my fuel pump, so I know it's working.

I'm not getting spark out of my coil, I have a spare coil that I tried, and it's not making spark either, I am getting 12 volts to the coil with the switch turned on and not hooked to the coil, but when it's hooked to the coil it's not reading anything.

I tried reading the 2.9 sticky post above but the links aren't working, I think my ignition module is out, what all can I test to make sure that is what it is????

it's a 89 2.9 in a 89 Bronco II, with the auto transmission.

also this thing has been hard to start sometimes, and it has a new coil, new wires, new plugs, new cap, new rotor, and new fuel pump, new fuel pump regulator, and new idle air on it, sometimes it would start right up, then something not.

Well, the little Bronco II is back to running, it was the ignition module, and the darnedest thing about it.

It was the wrong one in it, I took it to NAPA, because the one I took out was a NAPA part, part number tp31, the guy at NAPA looked it up and asked me if the little Bronco II was hard to start, I said "yes, I have had it about 1.5 years and it's always been hard to start",he said "right there is your problem, your suppose to have a tp32, not a tp31"
Well I was going to buy the new NAPA part, BUT their CC machine was down this morning, so I had to go to AdvanceAutos, they tested the old one and it turned up bad, they had to order me one, but I got it at 2:00 pm, came home and installed it, the starter barely has time it engage and it fires right up, it also looks to be turning about 200 more rpm's.

dang my mpg should go up a few now that it has the right parts, I know it really went up after I got the right plugs in it.

admins can close this post now.

Earl43P thanks for the link, it helped, but the other link was better because it told me what I need to remove that dad burned thing.
