Unless over 3K RPM is normal for 50mph, I'm stuck in 3rd gear. I started driving it this winter, remember it droping into OD a few times, but it didn't like to stay there it seemed.

Other than that, no shuddering, slipping or any other problems. Fluid isn't great but I've seen much worse.

no codes being thrown that might help you isolate the problem? mine is a manual, so i'm afraid other than what i just mentioned, idk.
so another bump for you both!

4th gear is controlled by the computer..there are several things that can cause the problem..bad solenoid,TPS(throttle positioning sensor) acting up kick down cable stiff not returning to proper postion, speed sensor or a bad computer or wires going down to transmission plug bad.

I don't want to highjack but how does the OD work on these trucks? Does it only drop into OD after a certain speed or does it just keep going through the gears regardless of speed? I lock mine out while im driving in the city so its not shifting in and out all the time.

I found out I CAN get into OD, but have onlt been able to do it on one place in the road. I go up a long steep hill, then down a shorter one. If I'm going about 50 I can get it to drop into OD. Anywhere else, it wont. I put 93 explorer axles in, so It has different gears than stock, could that make a difference?
