Hey everyone so I recently how to change my fuel pump since the gas gauge wasn't working. I thought to myself hey why not upgrade this 99 b3000 Ranger to a explorer dashboard from 2001. After I got the cluster in most of the lights work. But the 4x4 hi and low don't light up for bulb test or when shifting into it.
One thing I noticed when I was taking everything apart was that the lights for the four-wheel drive were blinking for a little bit when I had the cluster connected but the center console out.
I tried replacing bulbs to LED but they had strange effects on the cluster, specifically the warning bulbs the number 74 s. So I decided to stay all incandescent.
When I put the LEDs in everywhere the cluster was blinking super fast. Having just changed the fuel pump the bed was disconnected so after I reconnected the bed (specifically the taillight wiring) the blinking was back to normal but the four wheel drive lights didn't turn on.
Any ideas what I could try? Everything else works in the truck the headlights are good tail lights are fine. There is connectivity between the orange and black between the headlight switch and the cluster harness 12 pin connector black and orange.
Just to complicate things further the overdrive off button doesn't work either. I did have to remove the shifter when I was replacing a cut shift boot
