That would tell me that I couldn't use a regular cab longbox frame under a supercab, even going across generations.
You couldn't do that anyway. The regular cab frame will try very hard to occupy some of the same space at the super cab's rear floor pan and rear wall.

I'm in the process of building a 4x4 frame to put under my 2005 2wd. for me the rust issues are on the 4x4 parts, not my original 2wd frame.

I'll try to get some pics of the rear frame sections.
Pics from my long bed super cab; they were meant to show how cab to axle portion is consistent, with an additional 6" behind the rear tire carrier. And how I added 6" to front of frame to get the extra 12" to fit the long bed.
Rear frame section starts ~7.75" past back of cab on short box (13.75" on long); '98 & newer frame in ~6.25" deep at this point, top flange is ~2.25", bottom is just over 2-1/8"

I think I'm getting the idea that yes a newer 125 inch wheelbase rear frame will work on an older 125 in rear frame replacement although I can't seem to get anybody to say "yes"!

thank you for the photos! and. yes that's what I envision anybody with welding equipment and lots of clamps, grinders etc is going to be doing.

we built a huge steel cradle for my 10,000 lb sailboat years ago that's when I found out I could not weld and every weld I made was questionable.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

The best cradle for a boat is water - nice, gentle, evenly dispersed support all around the hull. 😁. (except during bad storms)

The extra wide axles were made withFord twin i-beams (the older ones) welded inside of I think it was 3 inch pipe, these happen to be almost 9 foot wide
