So I’d like to start off by welcoming my newest Ranger, she is a 1987 Ford Ranger STX 4x4 Automatic trans (electric windows and power door locks and has cruise control)

I need help ASAP. the transmission gave out bringing it home after buying it but idk which brand or model. Does anyone near Southwest Virginia have one!!! Please lmk ASAP!

Thank in advance, and this is the truck and a a couple pics of the transmission pan, shifter and a side shot of it.

Am I seeing things there or did somebody plug one of the cooling line ports?

Edit: The rear wheel well patches are interesting too. Looks like something I might do. Gotta be better than painters' tape... Right?
Edit2: Is that a reciprocating saw hole in the y-pipe just in front of the flange?

Yes sadly before I bought it, it was parked in a parking lot behind a business and someone cutlet the cats off of it.

It only has 1st gear left 😅😅✌. The gear packs are burnt up in it. Initially I was told that only reverse was bad but otherwise drive fine. That turned out to be a lie and now I’m looking for a new transmission to replace that one

Do yourself a favor when you find a replacement transmission…

Shift kit and valve body mods. I used the Transgo kit plus some parts.

Adjust the bands. There’s information in the tech archives on here about that.

Replace the reverse servo o-rings. Use square cut if you can find them.

Fresh fluid and filter obviously.

Upgrade the transmission cooler.
