My credo
Never put off ‘til tomorrow what you can put off indefinitely
Had to have the 168 model, I am 6'2", own nothing but trucks, including fullsize bronco on 40s. I've heard working on vehicles on lift is completely different, I've used a lift very little. I am so excited tho. Shop is tall enough, built with tall lift in mind
I’m so jealous!

My trusses are 9‘11“ off the slab. When I built the shed of miracles, if you went to 10 feet, you had to use 2 x 6 walls instead of 2x4. My shop is two cars in front of two cars plus. If I had to do over again, I would’ve built in a 20 x 12 high section in one of the back slots, so I could get a lift. It was always one of my dreams, but those days are over now.

Good luck with it!

I am so jealous as well! I'm getting way too old to keep crawling or even rolling under these vehicles.

A lift is a game changer. I don’t have one yet, but I’ve had the opportunity to use them a number of times in the past. Nothing like lifting a vehicle high enough to sit or stand under it and pull a cart with everything you need right there with you. Makes so many tasks way easier. I’m anxious to get my garage up and get a lift for it.

When I way laying on the floor in the shape of a J, rebuilding the front clip on my mustang, I kept thinking how nice it would be if I could just stand in the engine bay and work.

Then I would crawl under the fender for the 5000th time to get a fresh sanding pad for angle grinder.

I bought a used 2 post lift last year. Hopefully get it up late this year. But... I have pretty severe arthritis and bursitis in both shoulders, left one is worse but I'm right handed. My hands above shoulder height for any length of time causes lingering pain. I'm wondering how much that's going to affect my ability to work under there...

Hear me out....

Put whatever you're working on between the posts in an arrangement like the truck in your profile picture (on its roof)

Then.... you can suspend YOURSELF from the lift from your belt or whatever... and have no worries about hands above shoulder height 🙂

Pulled the trigger on this unit today. Should arrive in a few weeks along with 2x 1ton high jack stand
I hear you can squeeze out the extra engine oil if you use one of those correctly.

With my current tractor tire situation I took the opportunity with HFT's fathers day promotion deal to get a couple things, picked up a drill pump attachment deal and one of the hand pump fluid extractors from there and from Amazon a fluid fill tire adapter thing

Have you thought of an auto rotisserie?

I have one of those too. I bought it several years ago and refurbished it last year. Need to organize my place so I can use it. Not sure how feasible they are to use with motor/trans installed tho.
Only pic I could find. Half way thru refurbish.

I mentioned earlier that I scored an old DeWalt radial arm saw & got it up and running. I've found that it's handy enough to justify keeping around but needed a better place to put it so I'm rebuilding one of the benches in my shed and it'll permanently reside there. The idea is to be able to use the whole bench if I need to cut up something larger - I have about 8' on one side of the blade and 5' on the other.

The bench has been a real pain to rebuild. Part of it was built out of pallets at my old house, moved, and then modified to fit the new shed. The other half was built from leftovers from remodel projects.... so as you can imagine nothing is straight or level and I've had to do a lot of fixing. It will be nice to have a good level spot that is all the same height. I had the saw sitting on my sand blast cabinet stand and it didn't work well there nor could I use the blast cabinet. Having it mounted here will also allow me to put a vacuum below it for dust collection.

This is where I quit last night when I found I needed a couple straight 2x4's to proceed:

That looks like an awkward start to a big tricycle. What is that thing?

Its a vehicle rotisserie. Or the bottom half of one. Need 2 at each end attached to frame. There is hydraulic jack that lifts vehicle so it can be turned to whatever position, even upside down.
I've never used one but couldn't pass up the deal. Paid $250 about 7 years ago.
