Hi all, just joined.

Quick question. Anybody know the size of the 4 bolts that attach the fan clutch to the water pump on an 87' Ranger XLT with the 2.3L engine and no air conditioning? A source would also be appreciated! Thanks!

The last 2.3L I worked on I think was 11 or 12 mm on the fan bolts.

Howdy and welcome to TRS~!

The best source is a junkyard...

10 mm heads...just looking into what bolt size is...

M8 28mm type 11 P/C 9.8 locator code AB-187-EC (if that means anything to you).

EDIT: Forgot to mention that this is listed as METRIC COURSE THREAD...that can make a differnence...I thought it was fine thread though...from memory.

This was found at the following location for Ford parts catalog...pdf format...

http://www.icsarchive.org/icsarchive-org/private/Ford Misc/2004-Standard-and-Utility-Parts-Catalog.pdf

Ford part number...N802227-S2

If you want to find any part number for your model year it is usually listed in the on-line manual. There is a link to this on TRS:

http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=319

the user name and passwords are tech (automatically fills on some computers)...just punch in the details and you have everything right there...

I did find this catalog for ordering if they are still in business...

http://www.fordpartsgiant.com/parts-list/1987-ford-aerostar/cooling-fan-clutch-and-related-parts-4-cyl-140-2-3l-e-f-i.html

No description there on that page...but they do list them for the fan...

I still say junkyard is best...get all 4 but they are awkward to remove if the rad is in place...

Good luck with that...
