2007 and 2008 will have the same wiring, pay attention to the "except 2.3"(1 and 2) indicators, the V6 Rangers and 4cyl Rangers have slightly different wiring

I would unhook battery, then remove the Clam shell covers from steering column and unplug the Multi-function switch(turn signal stalk) wiring harness, then hook up battery and see if the clicking has stopped
Multi-function switches are "the only moving part" in the system so can fail


Yes, the dual flasher unit has two circuits inside one has 12v full time for the 4-ways, and other has key on 12v for turn
It was a good idea to replace that flasher unit first, but I would now check the Multi-function switch

2006 Ranger and 2007 will have the same turn signal wiring, engine model didn't matter

The actual 4 way flasher relay is just to the left of the steering column, I replaced that initially. The 1st photo is the steering column 4 way switch (plug removed). I reconnected the battery and there was no "clicking", however I don't think there was any power to the relay, as I think it's powered from the plug. Upon re attaching the plug to the 4 way switch, the "clicking" returned.
The 2nd photo shows the second plug, but I haven't been able to disconnect that yet. When I do, I'll post pics and my findings. Thanks to all for your input.

No, the flasher is powered by 2 fuses in SJB, the multi-function switch activates the flasher
Either the 4-way or the turn(key on)
Look at the diagram

If flasher does not click with multi-function switch unplugged then fault is most likely in multi-function switch

4-way switch is part of multi-function switch
Just two screws and the whole unit comes out, easier to disconnect wires that way

I've attached two photos. One with a screw circled in red, the second is the same photo with the "unit" outlined in blue.
1st: is the screw one of the two for the multi-function unit?
2nd: is the "unit" I've outlined, the multi-function unit?

Yes, that's one of the screws, other is in same place but on underside of the multi-function switch
Screw head is called a Torx type, you can get Torx "bit sets" at places like walmart or ??, for $6-$10

They don't need the hole in the center, but if they have it it can then be used on "security" torx screw heads as well as regular torx screw heads

Well, RonD, it appears that you know your Rangers very well. I removed the multi-function switch as directed without a hitch. After following your directions it appears the multi-function switch is bad. I'm ordering a new one, and I think, thanks to your directions, I can replace it and resolve my problem. Thanks for being patient with the FNG on the forum. I'll get back and let you know if I'm successful.

Multi-function switch issues are fairly common, lots of contacts inside that can short or no longer connect, and its the "only moving part" in the lighting system, lol, beside the Main light switch
Hopefully that's the problem

As a follow up, I purchased an aftermarket multi-function switch and replaced the OEM, it works fine, no apparent parasite leak and I'm satisfied. Thanks to all above for their time and attention. It helped a lot.
