Column gear selector has migrated to the right. Sometimes have to give it a little push in park to allow it to start. Any advice is appreciated.

Google: Ford Ranger loose column shifter

Common issue on Ford trucks with column shifters, usually just 2 loose screws under the dash
Lots of videos about how to fix that and other things that may cause that

About 9 months ago the selector became sloppy, found screw on drivers mat, fixed it. But long before that the selector guide migrated to the right; park is at reverse, reverse is at neutral, drive is at 2nd,etc. Was told then not to worry about it. Just recently, park has become a bit touchy and sometimes have to give the shifter a little help so I can engage the starter. I have to say that despite the miles this truck is in very good condition, bought it new, most dependable vehicle I have ever owned. I will check the videos. Thanks

there is a bracket on the transmission the shifting cable runs thru. it has an adjustment range to match the transmission with the
gear selector. slide out a white plastic locking tab, adjust the cable, slide the locking tab back in. there are small grooves that the tab captures.
