My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Welcome to TRS :)

1999 4x4, middle year for the not to good PVH(pulse vacuum hubs) on the front wheels, used 1998-2000
Can be changed to manual hubs if you need reliable 4WD

3.0l Vulcan engine, this is a HIGH RPM engine by design, makes best torque(power) at 3,500rpm, most engines do that at 2,500rpms
So don't be afraid to run this engine at higher RPMs, you have to to get best power
Has a nick name of "3.slow" because of this, you just need to KNOW the engine you drive

M5OD-R1(M5R1) manual 5-speed, good solid transmission, no real issues except it can leak from 3 rubber plugs at top rear of shifter housing, if you ever do the clutch replace these
This manual transmission used ATF, yes automatic transmission fluid in a manual trans, NOT gear oil!!!

Already put manual locking hubs on it. I shift at 4500 RPM when I want to get moving. The plan is a 5.0 swap using a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer engine with the M5OD-R2 out of 4x4 F-150 and an adapter for the early Bronco Dana 20 gear drive transfer case. At that point I will change my GEM module and ABS to the 2000 2 wheel drive and rear only ABS system. I have already installed a 96 Explorer 8.8 rear end and springs and plan to change out torsion bars as well as maybe using lift keys to get the front a bit higher to match the rear.
