Recently sold my 01 XLT 3.0L Supercab Auto with 344,000+. Got it used with 127.000. Sold it to a friend who knows 3.0Ls inside/out. Now driving an 06 XLT 3.0L Supercab Auto along with an 09 Escape with same 3.0L. Ranger gets about 20 mpg driving around Jacksonville, about 23 mpg on hwy. Do my own oil/filter changes. Swapped the starter on the 01 - took all day as I kept running inside to review videos. Changed the Cam Synchro Sensor on the 01. Have a great mechanic 3 miles from home, Suburban Auto, 3645 US17, Fleming Island, FL 32003 that has maintained a range of vehicles for 20+ years. Use an OBDII scanner when I get CELs. Both vehicles paid for and I don't miss car payments as long as I can keep them running with help from Suburban. 06 Ranger recently plagued with fuel related stalling at traffic lights. Swapped fuel pumps/filter and problem returned a few days later. Further troubleshooting found a pretty corroded wire harness that was responsible. In 1971, under my dad's supervision, first changed oil, filter and plugs in a 63 Plymouth Belvedere with 225 Slant 6. Very easy to maintain. Don't like pulling so much off to get to plugs on newer vehicles. Have really enjoyed Ranger Station as a voice of authority as I get more familiar with my truck.
