Well I have an 88 ranger mud truck I bought with plans of building it into a mega truck. I've come to the realization that my budget is not going to allow that anywhere in the near future. So i have decided to build a trail truck style truck out of it. My plans are to use the d44 and 9 inch it already has and either 3-link or 4-link it with coilovers or nitrogen shocks and 37" tires. Will upgrade to 1 tons and bigger tires down the road. My question is can I build a truck that will perform very well in the trails and also that i can take to the dunes and get some air without messing stuff up. Not talkin anything crazy just enough to be fun.

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I'm sure it can be done. But there will be compromises in either type of use.

In reality, what I have seen is the "fun" becomes "crazy" in a split second without thinking. It takes about as much time as removing a bottle cap.

Right, I mean I'm not trying to have the ultimate trail rig I just want something that will perform well and be fun wherever I take it.
