New 2001 Ranger, Duct Tape around Oil Cap?

Hello, this is my first post here. I'm a slight noob when it comes to mechanic work as I've been slowly learning the basics

I bought a 2001 Ford Ranger with lots of cosmetic damage, but the engine is in pretty much pristine condition- except for this one problem. There is duct tape surrounding the engine oil cap that is holding on the wrong type of oil cap.

Today I went to Auto-Zone and bought the correct cap, took off the duct tape, and the cap didn't fit! The people at autozone told me it was because the oil filler neck was not the right type either and it looked like it was simply jammed in there. They couldn't order the correct one though and I can't find a replacement on rock auto or anywhere else. I really don't want to replace the whole assembly just to fix the oil filler neck because that requires a lot of work and unnecessary $$$.

What should I do?

Not on the 4.0.
Looks like it's discontinued, so a junkyard or an online salvage parts store is probably your best option.

Supposedly, you can also use one from a 4.6 Explorer, it has a 45° bend. (That info comes from the ModdBox SC install sheet, not personally verified)

Oil filler just needs a good seal so the PCV system can do its job

I would leave it as is if it had a good seal, i.e. you can tighten it
OR
Try to find what filler tube it is using and get the correct cap for that one, at a wrecking yard

OP started with "I bought a 2001 Ford Ranger with lots of cosmetic damage.................", so no need spend $$ on a working system just for the sake of cosmetics, that can't even be seen unless the hood is open

Seems like the easiest and cheapest solution would be just to go yank the tube and cap off another truck at the junkyard. Can't cost you more than 5 bucks...

Okay guys here are some pics I took today

Didn't want to take the tape off because it's been holding well, but I will tell you that when I removed it before and bought the correct cap that it had nothing to thread onto.

Yeah it seems to be doing fine. Haven't seen any smoke from leaking oil so far, so it has a pretty tight seal. I'll see if I can find a replacement at a junkyard. I can't find the part anywhere online.
