After our CAI conversation, this is where he landed. The Spectrum filter is nestled into the outer half of the filter box. I think I'm going to try to get the stock box and filter back into place and cobble the two into one. If I can't get that to work, I'll get the rest of the intake tubing from RA or the junk yard.

I think that locks the door handle from being able to move when the front door is closed... I have a few trucks here, I’ll check in a little while.
I tried 2 different F250s that have the same thing... It doesn’t do shit.

I started cleaning out the interior. Removed all of the floor mats, hosed them down, and vacuumed the carpet and seats. I will detail the interior this weekend while I try to figure the intake system out.

There is a "metal on metal" sound at startup, but I cant tell if it's starter related or inside the engine. Dad says it sounds normal to him, so ... :dunno: :icon_confused:

It could be normal. IDK. This is my first 5.4L, maybe that's just how they sound on start-up. I'm going to find a good "F-150 forum" eventually.
Poking around under the hood last night, I saw some spliced wires at the back of the motor. Looked to be the fuel injector wires, but again, IDK. (yet)

Any chance the motor mounts are worn out and you're hearing the fan hit the shroud?

One of the common issues we find is the torque converter studs hit the block separator plate. If you get enough corrosion built up, it will rust jack the plate just enough for the studs to hit in certain situations.

Is it causing damager to anything?
Is there a way to check and or correct for this without tearing in apart?

Nah, it has the very thirsty 5.4 2valve triton
You think yours is thirsty. Throw a Magnum Powers roots blower on top making 12 pounds boost, with dual fuel pumps in the tank. Yeah, when you're driving it like you stole it, you can watch that fuel gauge move. 93 octane currently at $5.29 a gallon. It was down around one quarter tank, took 20 gallons, cost $105.00 LOL!!

Yeah, take the lower inspection cover off and see if the end of the studs have been hitting it.
Sometimes you can bend the plate with a screwdriver, you can knock a 1/16” off the end of the studs with a die grinder, etc. there’s plenty of cheap options.

Thanks.
Guess I'll be on YouTube "learning" how to get in there.

I have NO shortage of Power, but I think the rear end is geared for pulling heavy loads, so anything above 65-70 mph is a struggle

I have 4.10's in that back of that Lightning. And low profile 345/35-18 tires on 12.5 inch rims. Still goes well north of 100 easily.

I have no idea what the gearing is. I 'think' it has 235/70-16's on it. It's still pretty new to me and everything is virgin territory for me. I do know it has twice the fuel capacity of my D21 but goes about the same distance on a tank. So I gotta get rich if I wanna drive this thing.
