Thanks in advance. I will make this quick as possible. Bought an 88 bronco 2. My 4th 2.9. This bronco came with an automatic, push button 4x4. I can find out what one if needed. Swapped a manual in from an 86 b2 that I bought. I'm dumb and didn't swap computers. Here is my question. How do I get the neutral safety switch to work with the swapped manual? Any info would be greatly helpful. I can still bypass and run the truck from a button. That's easy, I would like to start it with a key though.

Welcome to TRS :)

Inside the cab, up above the new clutch pedal you should see a 6 pin thin connector, its plugged into the Clutch bypass harness used for automatics
Unplug the 2 connectors

The one connector will plug into the Clutch pedal safety switch, seen here: https://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/62217_CPP_1.jpg

And here: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/31DPq6ihEsL._SR600,315_PIWhiteStrip,BottomLeft,0,35_SCLZZZZZZZ_FMpng_BG255,255,255.jpg

Connector wiring seen here: https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.ford-trucks.com-vbulletin/492x555/clutchswitchconnections_fc3ef66f2c06a4fa57e362ac531408d08a29a5ab.gif
There are 3 switches inside, each 2 wires are on one of the switches, i.e. 1/2, 3/4, 5/6

The last 2 wires on the connector, 5 and 6, are the START wires, usually pink or red/blue stripe
When these 2 wires are connected together that would bypass the safety switch

That was done here: https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/attachments/my08-007-jpg.17294/

But if you have the working clutch switch then pressing the pedal down all the way connects those 2 wires in the switch

The computer has no connection to starter motor activation, just FYI
But automatic computer in a manual vehicle may have a higher idle or wandering idle, and it would turn on the CEL(check engine light) full time, if you have one

Wow! Thank you so much. I knew it had something to do with that plug. You're awesome!

Yup, my choptop has an auto computer since I haven’t got my hands on a manual computer yet for it. Has a higher idle, around 1,000 RPMs or so, want to say the CEL isn’t always lit, but when you pull codes it complains that it’s not seeing the electric shifts of the auto transmission whether the CEL is lit or not.

Thanks guys. Long story on this one. Still working on it. I want to make it a side by side and not pay the stupid money for one. And this one has a/c, heat, comfortable seats.
