I'm debating shortening my wheel base. I can't decide if want to build a tube bed and loose the stock bedsides, or if I just want to shorten my bed and keep the stock, but short look. Either way it's getting caged, but I dig the step side

Here's the photo to work with:

And here's my crappy rendition of what I'm going for, done quickly on MSpaint.

Should give an idea.

Thanks,
Adam

I think a bobbed stepside would be sweet.

I only took out about 6". I wasn't sure how much he wanted out. And keeping the bedsides would be hard without major bodywork.

But it does look subtle, so here's a more radical one with the wheel wells moved and a section taken out of the bed.

if i was gonna go shortening the wheelbase i would DEFINETLY shorten it on the rear behind the tires also so improve departure angles

In the second chop I removed a good 6" hunk of glass behind the wheel well.

I will say though, it looks bitchin so I think yo should do it LBF!!

I like it. Thanks for all the hard work Carl and ChevelleKid!

I'm still debating it.

I don't want to loose too much bed space, cause this is my camping rig too.

But I want a short wheel base for the trails.

I've already devised a tail gate/spare tire carrier that swings out to both sides, and a rail system to extend the bed that locks in to the open gate. Should get me another 2 feet of bed space or somethin.

I'll keep updates going in Project: Moose Knuckle part 3 (or what ever I called it) in the build section
