I got the opportunity to pick up a 99 ford d60 for 200 bucks but I know I'll never need the d60 strength. Should I pick it up anyways?

It is most likely a dana 50. Only dual rear wheel trucks got 60s in 99. All single wheels had a dana 50 (looks like a 60 but has 44 gears and smal neck down inner axles). Probally not work getting unless you already have a truck that uses a 50 or 60 that year. It would be good for parts. But if you are goin to use it for a build you will be stuck with 8 on 170mm bolt pattern and unit bearings. A dana 50 is not worth the effort IMO.

Yeah that's a concern I have too. But the guy says its out of a f350 dually so it has to be a 60 unless he's lying but ill have to verify that tomorrow when I go look at it. I was originally planning on sasing with dana44 but around here d44s go for more than he is asking. So even if it is a 50 I might still go for it.

It shard to say. Its best to pull the cover. There should also be a sticker on the rear of the tube with a bar caode and some numbers on it. I believe you can look up the numbers to find out 50/60 too. If thats off a dually he must have robbed the bud wheel adapters off it already then.

Well I went to check it out and it had 248 cast on it which means its a 60 but I gotta pick up an axle shaft and locking hubs for it but I'm pretty happy still cause I picked up d60 for only 200 bucks. Now I just gotta get a matching rear
