Need some help

I have a 97 ranger XLT 4x4 4.0
Just put a new engine in my truck. The old had a little miss before that engine blew up. I was hoping that when in put the new engine in that it would take care of it but it's still their. I'm not sure where to look now any help would be appreciated.

I would check these first and maybe it will fix your miss problem - Faulty spark plugs or wires. Faulty ignition coil. Broken piston rings

This. Are the wires on the right plugs? Are they in the right spots on the coil pack? Are they fully seated at both ends?

Are you sure its not just the standard 4.0 tick that goes away when its warm?

Exactly how "little" is "small" enough to blow an engine?

I think you may well find it in that coil pack hook-up, it is SOOO easy to get that mixed up it is unreal.

Did you install the engine? If yes, check post #2 & #3.

Cylinders need 3 things to pop.

Fuel, spark (at the right time) and compression.

Check those things and go from there.

I thank I found it EGR tube had hole it. Started smoothing out after I fix it.
