99 2.5 Lima, 5 speed (assume its an m50d), 235k...due to lack of time and poor planning lol, had trans shop replace clutch at 205k...they mentioned a "slight drag" going into 4th, citing possible synchro wear. It has become increasingly difficult to shift into 2nd and 4th now. Bought it with 46k and its been great, as I drive it 200 miles a day....its always been easy to grind a little going into 3rd...I change the fluid every 15-20 k with castrol dex-merc....I have notice every once in a while that the clutch pedal release/pedal height/ free play is off ...BLEEDING SLAVE WORTH A TRY???... I've been looking at used tranny's just in case but figure I must find one from a 2.3/2.5 (thanks captain ledd, sounds like a 23k tranny from an 08' 3.0 wouldn't bolt in). Been a bad member for not sharing my knowledge and trials due to family and 60 hour weeks, please forgive. lol...any advice is welcome !

Think I may try shifter bushings. Based on the posts I've read up on and my own analysis of the condition I have, its seems like a pretty low risk gamble.
I've been able to shift smoothly by jiggling the shifter side to side going into 2nd & 4th. Checked out the kit pricing. E-bay $25-45, AllState gear $16. Sounds like filling after draining the tranny when the shifter is out is a good idea too !
Would rather do a Hurst ....can't be done for much less than $250...

I have a Hurst and the 2nd worst thing I can say about it is that it's worth every penny they want for it.

The very worst thing I can say? The aluminum "Base" that bolts onto the transmission is made of somewhat brittle aluminum and I stripped one of the shifter mounting bolts with a 1/4 drive Ratchet handle.

So I wound up installing heli-coils in ALL the threaded holes.

Thread jacking...
Does the Hurst shifter have adjustable stops? After breaking a shift fork, I'm seeking a preventative solution for my abused transmission.

Thanks for the info guys. Still poking along searching for my gears...thank good ness this 2.5 is fast (LMAO)... going cheap and ordering the bushings tomorrow... got about 1.75 side to side in gear. Shifts way better when rainy and humid. Get it done and post for advice on the rounded off upstream O2 head that is integrated with the manifold. The check engine light may have just burned out lol....
