I am in the middle of changing the ECU temp sensor because of a hard start when warm issue. My problem is When I ordered the sensor on line from Rockauto.com I made sure the sensor I ordered was the one that had the round connector and not the squared one but I got the squared one, with the adapter with it, part number is correct but the pic was wrong, and now don't know which wires to connect to. The new pig tale just has both white wires and the original has a red and green wire.

Does it matter which wires I splice to or is it specific?

Part installed

Since it is just a resister that adjusts its resistance by its temperature I put it in and so far my issue seems to have gone away but I have not run the vehicle for long. I did run from my town to the next city over and when I restarted my truck it fired just like it was cold. I will need to drive further in the next few days so this would be a good test to find out if the hard start when warm issue is fixed.

Thanks for the Info RonD this ones for you: :icon_pepsi:

A Sender uses a difference resistance scale for a dash board Temp Gauge
Sensor is for computer used only

They are not interchangeable electrically

On later models, around 2004 the dash went to digital so computer sent Temp to dash gauge and only ECT sensor was used, needed
