Hello, i am installing a remote starter in my 1998 ford ranger. I have the starter all hooked up and working but i am struggling with a few of the extra wires for the lights and the door ajar. On my remote starter one of the wires produces 12v which is used to flash the parking lights. I was trying to tie that wire into the back of the headlight switch but i cant seem to figure that out. Basically how can i activate the parking lights? Also which wire behind the instrument cluster is activates the door ajar light? I do not have any wiring diagrams for this vehicle. I would be interested in the pinout for the headlight switch. Thanks

You can access both from GEM module wires

GEM(generic electronic module) is located behind the radio, so you need to pull off the bezel(trim cover) and then pull out the radio

Door ajar light is activated by GROUNDING the bulb in the dash, Black/orange wire on the GEM grounds Door Ajar light when a door opens
The door switches are grounds as well, when door is closed switch is OPEN, no ground, when door is open switch is CLOSED so GEM gets ground and then grounds the bulb in the dash
Your remote start may want a Ground signal from "Door Open" to shut down and lock the engine, backup to prevent theft

On GEM or main light switch the Brown (OR White/black stripe) wire is the 12volts for the parking lights
Brown if there is no Ford Anti-theft system
White/black if there is a Ford anti-theft system

Brown(white/black) would be available at the main light switch, but door ajar access would be back of the cluster or at the GEM

Thank you very much. I am continuing to work on the install tomorrow so I'll check things out.
