Sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes the bear eats you.
I just did my front brakes and noticed when I pulled the auto hub off there's a broken piece on the spindle can anyone identify this part so I can order a new one. It seems like it's plastic. If you look closely you can see the broken part.

It looks like some sort of plastic collar.

I believe it’s called the cam assembly. I can get you more info when I get home from work. I’ve seen it identified in my chilton manual.

@Angry Possum I have scanned the innerwebs and have yet to see any available. Most chose to swap to manual hubs so perhaps a thread in the parts wanted classified section here on TRS may find someone who has an old set sitting around after they swapped to manuals. Just a thought. Your profile says 93 4.0 ranger so it should be a Dana 35 auto locking hub cam assembly.
Good luck fren.

Both of them look fine. I don't think I need to get new ones, I thought they were cracked when I took off the hub. I guess that's the design. I'll know when I actually remove it tomorrow.

And in what I've read recently, there's not supposed to be any grease in the hub and on the spline etc. Is this true? Both of mine are loaded with grease.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Should have a thin film of grease or oil. Definitely not "loaded".
