Hi guys, could use a little help w/ ID'ing some things. I bought an '87 F250 4x4(not quite sure why - it was there). This truck was never registered for the road as it was equipped and sold as "farm machinery" .
Pretty HD looking driveline, I'm trying to figure out what everything is so I can figure out what to do with it
So far I've identified the rear diff 10.25 Ford 3:55 open and the C6 trans
The VIN shows the motor as a 5.8 (351) It's a 4V carb I'm suspecting Windsor but.... - the dipstick goes into the pan. the fuel pump bolts are horizontal, the therm. housing is on the front of the intake and 90's to go straight up, and the # on the left exhaust manifold is E5TE9481 BA. Can anybody do anything with that ?
Next thing is the transfer case (the tag is broken off). It's aluminum, don't see a spot for PTO, it's manual shift - has 2H, 4H, N, 4L. Flange for the front D/S and slip in for the rear one.Anybody know any other identifiers ?
And the front diff, It's TTB on leafs. I looked all around the area near the pinion but found nothing (I read somewhere that there should be a 45 or 50 stamped there) and I can't find #s on the tubes. So out to the hubs - the chrome caps for the manual lock are about 3 3/8 " but the hub itself - measured right where the wheel bolts on, is about 4 1/8" - hard to measure. The u-joints are about 3" across, again hard to measure exactly. I think it should be a Dana 44 or 50 - I'm leaning toward 50, but not sure.
Appreciate hearing some opinions on this so I can figure out just what I've got here.
