What's the worst that could happen?
The guys could use s little more info maybe...any other symptoms
Modulator valve maybe...? Shift linkage...?

By residue in "oil pan," you mean transmission pan?

Hard to guess --- well, for me it is.

Welcome to TRS btw.

Sorry for not to much info New to this forum. I meant transmission fluid pan. Also when shift to D rpm go down a little like engaged but won't go forward. Is not my pickup. Is my wife nephew. Prior to that I added 2 quart of oil and was running fine.

No worries Sterling:D
I'm not the most knowledgeable guy here, but get some more symptoms from the nephew.
Low oil wouldn't normally cause the trans to not engage. Low transmission fluid (ATF) or the wrong kind just might.
And most likely you - or the nephew - would notice some issues/changes leading up to the failure. Those issue/changes would be helpful to know.
The guys here are extremely helpful and will be along soon enough to help. In the meantime, give them something more to go on.
