Hey guy's I need some quick advice......I'm probably going to pick up an 89 5.0 LX tomorrow. I'm getting it for a very good price. The only thing is that it needs a water pump. It's also about 35 miles away from my house highway driving.....The owner advises me that it does drip but he thinks I should be able to make it. When a water pump goes bad I know it leaks from what I believe is called a weep hole.....Does it drip or does it come gushing out?
What's your take on the situation? should I chance it? Sorry if this is a dumb question.....Thanks in Advance!

and if yer a cheap bastard [like me ] you can plug the weep hole with a dab of sealer [just enough to cover hole] :icon_hornsup: it's actually the seal thats toast and when the seal goes completely it will pour out. note the sealant thing is a temporary fix.:D

I would take a tool with you to loosen the serp. belt. If the water pump feels rough or wobbley when you turn it I'd be concerned with driving that far....

buy all the parts and gaskets to change it and have coolant in the car so if it blows you can go it on the spot.they are easy to change road side if need be. i have driven worse much farther.
