My wife needs a new phone. Hers took a lemonade bath a few months ago. After a rice rest, it slowly started getting back up to full function after a week. But of course she always had something to complain about since, even though the phone worked just fine for me. Anyhow, she’s having problems with it again and I’m tired of hearing it. I’m only planning to stick with Verizon for another year, at which point our contract will be up and I’ll prob jump ship.

She currently has an LG Ally. We have the protection plan, but that’s an automatic $100 for a refurbished phone. I don’t have any experience with buying phones outside of cellular retailers. I thought bout ebaying or what not an equal or better phone, IF I can get it cheaper than $100 (her major complaint is that the phone is too slow, in which it is. She bought a shitvette to my corvette (droid 2)). I guess what I’m getting at, if I do buy a phone from say ebay, and it is compatible with Verizon, will I have any problems taking both phones in to get info transferred/”new” phone activated? What are some other Verizon compatible android phones that I should look at that is equal too or better than the Ally? Is there a better, more reliable place than ebay?

I highly recommend the DroidX. the thing to look out for on fleabay is for stolen or lost phones that are "deactivated" by Verizon.

however, if you have a protection plan that costs 100 bucks for a refurb, you might think about going that route. you are going to pay a good chunk for an ebay phone that may or may not work, why not get a refurb and know that it does work? then when the contract comes up, you can ebay the phone and make some of that back.

if her phone is still working, set up back up assistant and run it. when she gets the new phone, set up backup assistant again and retreive the stuff she backed up.

This will be an easy way to get all of her contacts to the new phone. I am assuming she has a card with her current phone, if so get a card reader and transfer all of her pictures to your computer. (should be able to do that with the data cord supplied with the phone too) you can also transfer any documents that she has on the phone as well.

droid x is waaay too big.....she'll complain more. Droid 2 is the largest she wants to go. I was even turned off by the droid x size. I would luv to get her a droid 2 because FB doesn't slow it down. On hers, when you switch back to the home screen, it can take 10 sec or more for the icons/functions to show up. If I could make the decision, I would take her back down to a basic clamshell phone. Alot less complaining.........

miscro sd card - check
backup - check (I kinda forgot bout this)

We have had hit & miss with eBay phones. Good for the most part, but I would go with the $100 refirb, then you can always go back on VZW if it doesn't work.

We do the eBay phones because my wife loves her NV2 and nothing VZW offers right now interests her enough to switch.

We've had BB, and fell in luv with android when we got these phones. Android seems to have some much more to offer for the casual user. We do still have our Pearl 8130's.....hmmmmm

shoot, forgot she'll complain bout it (she hated the not fully qwerty keyboard and instead of getting used to the quick type or whatever they called it, she "typed" the old fashion way.....hit the button once for this letter, hit it twice for that). Not only that but the track ball isn't good with pocket lint. BUT its a viable option.

After our verizon contract is up, I'm thinking of switching to sprint. Tired of fees for everything and now the data cap.
