Deengineer until it is how Blue Oval should have sold it!!
Vikz,
If the block isn't cracked, have the heads inspected for cracks and warpage. If no cracks, either worn valve guides or dirty valve seats will cause an engine to drink oil like a parched triatholon winner! To be expected from this non-adjustable valve train.

A quality multi angle valve job is about $150 + parts if needed, a deck mill is approximately $60/head and replacing the valve guides, usually done with a valve job is just another $50-ish; A far cry from needing an entire engine 😉

Yea, did more inspections and tne valve train is pretty shot. All the pushrods were significantly shaved down lol

Vikz,
If you desire to improve on this non-adjustable valve train, new reinforced rockers are available from:
Delta Camshaft of Tacoma Washington
and adjustable custom length pushrods are available from:
Smith Brother's Push Rods.

Our new member @konrad911 , is currently working on making the old 2.8l/2.9l adjustable rockers work in a 4.0l OHV, so take a look at his 4.0l Turbo build thread 👀

Sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes the bear eats you.
If you were in the states you'd have way more luck. eBay has a lot of used 4.0 engines for sale. I highly doubt you'd get a seller to ship it to Hawaii. Good luck.
