Well looks like I might actually toss a battery in the B4000 and see if she starts tomorrow. I haven been connecting up everything and bleeding the hydraulics and so for so good.

BUT... I have a two conductor female round connector with a red and a black wire that is right behind the cam position sensor where the transmission harness connector and the 2 oxygen sensors connect. I have looked high and low and can not find a mating plug for it. What is it that I don't have connected?

Beats me........hope that helped......

but seriously.....can you find where the harness ends up at to give you a better idea of what it might be used for....(computer-starter-ign.-fuel-lights-engine-etc)

and another thing.....with the key off, is there any voltage at the wires....with the key on--any voltage?

uhhhhh (after you put in the new battry)

My Haynes manual shows that a Red/Blk wire (Red wire with black stripe) goes from HEGO #1 to pin 29 on the computer.

However, solid red wires will have constant 12v power. In that case, I can't tell you where it might go to, because this manual doesn't show connector sizes and shapes.

I was just thinking when I read your question about voltage... But I don't have a battery in it. LOL
I'll get a photo later of where it is and verify the wire colors. I was looking at the engine compartment schematics this morning and they just got me even more puzzled because they don't show the transmission connector let alone this one.

I am assuming you have a 5 speed manual. Anywho that connector isn't important unless you have an automatic transmission. That connector plugs into the wire harness for the automatic transmission. Don't believe me word for word but that's all I could figure out for it. I got the same connector in there doing nothing as well, so don't worry about it.

my truck is an automatic, and i took a picture of it but i can't seem to connect my phone to my computer. it's connector should be located behind and like 2 inches below the coil pack. doesn't affect startup so you should be good. on another note, kinda wondering what this plug does. i can't get it to stay connected together and i don't see any broken tabs, nor do i know what it does. some insight on what it does would be nice.

also my wires going into the plugs are not red and black.

I would like to thank all of you for trying to help me identify this connector. I had a feeling it was something to do with auto trans but still... If you are like me you don't like loose ends so to speak. It is awfully clean to have not been plugged into anything for the last 20 years. So here are a couple photos of the connector. I believe I was off on the wire colors in my original post. I put some work lights on the plug for the photos and I now think the wires are Black with Yellow stripe and Orange. Of course the stool I was standing on slipped out while I was leaning over to get the pic and I did a full face plant into the engine bay.

Of course any fresh input or confirmation of what this plug is for would be appreciated.

Yes but the connector for it is accounted for and has black and green wires.

It's an auto trans connector. I have one on my truck. I've spent hours looking around that truck for it's mate. It's not there. It confused me because the cap or whatever fell off it...

Thought it might have received a shorting bar, so I jumped it with a jumper wire and it made no difference.

Anyway I just put liquid electrical tape all in it and put it back together.

Thanks Fritz... I had a feeling it didn't go to anything but with all the electronics that control these modern vehicles I felt it was best to be safe than sorry.
