My dad is an engineer and I have always been raised to use what resources I had available. In the case of my tunnel ram, I knew what I needed and just so happened to look over at my old engine hoist, then the lightbulb came on. The square tube was perfect! I know the height is kind of extreme, the idea was to start larger, and if needed, shorten it. But as it is now (9 inches from the top of the ram to the bottom of the carb spacer that the ram sits on) it works great.I like when people use what they have and think outside the box. It may not always work but how do you know without taking three or four years of university math or trying it out personally. It would be interesting to see a time slip. Also, what size tires/rims are you running?
Keep it up,
Richard
I'm considering adding something to make it look less *blah* but I figured I would wait till I got the bugs worked out.
