I think I'll call it Oliver...

Hi! Im currently fixing up an old '87 ranger, and I just have to show it off to some one! Despite how it looks now, it looked ten times worse when I got it, so I'm exited!

It actually runs now, but we are in the process of replacing the valve-seals (it was smoking like none other when we let it run for a bit) so the engine in the pic is rather un-put-together...

Let me know what you think!

Yup! I've heard good things about them!

And on the Valve seal note- It has an over head cam, and there is this special tool to compress the valve springs, you don't have to take the cam off for it.... but i cant find it any where! Any suggestions?

you don't need it, use two sturdy screwdrivers instead, it works just as well. We had one of the special tools at work and I tried using it but it was just as easy to use two pry bars, or I see you have a welder, take some 1/8" strap metal and make your own, it really wouldn't be that hard

Thanks Scott! I'll give it a try!
And stray - yes, it is a good bit of work, but I really enjoy that stuff! And once we get the smoke to stop, it's all cosmetic, I already got the entire back half of the frame and under side of the bed de-rusted and coated with this great product called Hurculiner, I started painting about a week ago, and I still have some of that stuff on my hands, no matter how much I wash them 0.o it's some pretty tough stuff...

Looks like a nice start to a good project. it'll be worth it when she done. I've seen some old beat up rangers turned into some nice rigs.

You don't know how true that is, we went through about 10 or 11 cans of that stuff just for the back half! Walmart really must love me cuz when ever I come I drop about $20 on the rust converter...

Alright! Pics will be up soon, I started to weld the floor, but had to quit because I had forgotten to open the door, and the fumes built up in the garage (stupid mistake on my part) but I'm letting it air out over night.... On a kinda sorta related note- I found two 12" sub-woofers for this thing, how much space should I be looking for in a sealed box?

depends on the subs.. what brand? single voice coils or dual voice coils?

usually you want about 1.25 cubic feet per sub
