In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
That can be fixed, too.

Keep your mind like an umbrella, it only works if its open... Continually learning.
Talk about doing less than the bare minimum for your job...

Hard to believe that a machinist would do that, I tend to believe it was the engineer that stated to only go 1/2" deep on the prints.

Need to find a new boot for the inner tie rod. I noticed the original one has a hole in it. Can't fibd a replacement at the moment.

I finally replaced the right and left front tie rod ends. The TRW 1069 is the only inner tie rod that I found to properly fit.

Lemfoerder W0133-1655737-LEM was the only boot that I could find that fit. I have (3) new boots that don't fit. 🤷‍♂️

20220512_195050.jpg

I mounted a new 228 piece first aid kit in the trunk along with a First Alert fire extinguisher. The first aid kit is sitting inside of a elastic strap that was already part of the trunk liner. The fire extinguisher bracket is screwed in to the floor.

None of the door speakers were working. The only sound seemed to be coming from the 2-inch speakers in the dash.

I ordered these Pioneer TS-A653R 320 Watt 6-1/2 inch speakers. I like that they come with an adapter to help them fit different vehicles.

jaguar_xj8_door_speaker_replacement_pioneer-2.JPG

The Jaguar XJ8 speaker opening has plastic tabs that I cut off so the Pioneer adapter can sit flush.

jaguar_xj8_door_speaker_replacement_pioneer-3.JPG

jaguar_xj8_door_speaker_replacement_pioneer-4.JPG

The adapter screws on to the door with the factory screws and mounting holes, and the speaker screws on to the adapter. There's a gap in the adapter so the speaker wire can pass through. No need to buy the Jaguar speaker adapter mount.

With the new speakers installed, I removed the factory Alpine speaker grill so I could paint/dye the carpet piece behind it black to match the freshly dies carpet.

The new speakers sound great. I wasn't sure if it was going to be bad speakers, or a bad amplifier. I'm glad it was just the speakers.

The lights on the Jag were upgraded to LED's. They're so bright that the driving lights are a bit pointless. I decided to install yellow LED bulbs in the driving lights for fog and to give the Jag a little different look the stock.

The 7-inch LED 85-watt Nilight off-road lights are pretty damn bright. The LED bulbs I used for my hi-beams seem to be similar in brightness.

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
How did the girlfriend end up liking the driving lights?

Took the Jaguar and got it aligned Thursday.

Then took it home and replaced the speakers in the rear doors and dyed the carpet on the door cards to match the carpet.

I've always enjoyed the long, sleek look of a Jag.

Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
Nice ride, Jim.

Is it just me, or would it look a more lot better with a big gold Trans Am fire chicken decal on the hood?

I've actually wondered the same thing. A Bandit version of the Jag.
