V8 swapped, torque monsters if they ever ship out, bcam. I'm looking for muffler recommendations. Not too pricey, but not a cheapo, don't want it to sound like a mustang, but I definitely want it to be heard. No cherry bombs, have always liked Flowmaster 40's but that is too common

im a big fan of magnaflow magnapack mufflers.

jones exhaust has a cheaper version called the “maxflow” muffler. They sound mean on a SBF

I had a Flowmaster? on mine for a while and didn't like the loud drone cruising. Went to the JY and pulled a 3.5" diesel exhaust complete that was nearly new. Welded in a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter behind my cat and the hangers even lined up nicely. Nice tone and no drone. it was the best I could do without spending $500 getting dual exhaust on a 4x4.

My credo
If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
That's a nice, neat expensive looking exhaust system.
I like Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers, the price is reasonable and they sound good. One thing: look in the inlet and outlet, there's a reduction in pipe size that I squeeze out with a pipe expander. Maybe see how you like the sound first because my modification makes them a little louder.

My credo
"220, 221, whatever it takes."
I have a single Flowmaster DBX on my Sport Trac. It rumbles but not too loud.

I've got a single knockoff 40 series Flowmaster on my V8 truck... it's basically a Y pipe into the muffler and it dumps out right behind the cab. I think it sounds good, it sounds like a truck and is neither too loud or too quiet. My only real complaint is that I get exhaust fumes through the rear window on occasion.

Actually I have the same muffler on my Explorer and 4.0 swapped stepside truck. It's almost too quiet on the Explorer... I had a real Flowmaster on it before that was louder and had the obnoxious V6 drone. The other one is quite a bit louder but it's basically just a piece of pipe, a muffler and another short piece of pipe that exits right in front of the passenger rear tire... very short exhaust system. Very pleased with it, does not sound like a V6 at all.

I recently installed a Magnaflow cat-back exhaust from 4wheelonline. I love its rich and throaty sound.
