Hi all, wondering if anyone can point me to a Canadian source for motorcraft parts. I'd like to replace my camshaft synchronizer and the only place I've been able to source a motorcraft part is from the dealer. I can order one from Rockauto for less than half, but the shipping and customs fees are rather unkind.
There are other brands available of course, like Dorman, but I have no clue as to their reliability.
This will be my first foray into DIY vehicle maintenance/repair, so I want to make sure I do it right.
Thanks all!

The reliability of Dorman parts can be compared to a submarine with a screen door... It's just not gonna work.

Can't help you find Motorcraft parts in Canada but for the love of all things holy stay away from Dorman.

Lol, thanks for the tip! For such a vital part I don't have a problem paying more for OEM. Especially cause I'll be saving a bundle doing it myself. Dealer wants $320 for the part and another $300 to install (they charge 2hr @ $150 per hour).
I'd think a Ford mechanic would be able to do the job in about 15 minutes.

It may hurt but OEM is the best way to go in the long run.

Doing things wrong, until I get it right.
If you can get it from RockAuto.com for half the price, get it, as long as shipping doesn't double the cost, you're still under budget, and you get quality parts. I agree with @Dirtman, stay away from dorman as much as possible. cheap/plastic/junk.

Just ordered from Rockauto. Looking forward to getting my hands dirty!

I'm also in Canada, Rockauto does charge you the canadian GST on your purchase so you shouldn't have customs fees to pay. I bought parts from them for a couple years, I never had to pay such fees.

Right, I meant the customs brokerage fees charged by FedEx. Did you have the parts shipped ground or air?

Shouldn't be any duties fees at all unless the total is more than $150 Can. Now that we have our new free trade act no tax on any order under $40 Can shipped. It's not earth moving but it is better than the $20 ceiling that was in place.

Always ground. I never order parts needed in a hurry from RA, so I always use the cheapest (and usually slowest) option.
