That sounds like a horrible plan wrought with failure. Nothing against the technicians. It sounds like they just want to fill the lots and open up space for more partially complete vehicles to built and stored.
Free storage for Ford and they can pay a non-union tech half an hour to assemble, program and install the module.

And most of our dealer's lot is grass so they have to mow around all these dead horses too.

IMO Ford is getting tired of:

A. Not selling vehicles
B. Paying to store non salable vehicles

On the flipside they could move more vehicles. The dealer could keep a few parts on hand and if you actually see a truck on the lot you want they could throw it together for you as opposed to all the vehicles all sitting in a parking lot on the other side of the county and nothing but demo derby fodder and tumbleweeds in the dealer lot.

I don't really see why this couldn't work. I mean I just bought a Kubota BX2680 tractor and that's what the dealer does, finish assembly of them at the dealership. They arrive at the dealer packed in shipping crates. The dealer unpacks them, puts the wheels on, steering wheel, ROPS, etc. adds fluids, torques everything down, and sends it out to a customer. I really don't see why Ford and other automakers couldn't really do this. Could save some money at the assembly plant by being able to move vehicles down the line quicker and possibly be able to make some better customization options for customers too.

Bronco is an off-road vehicle. Anyone that needs to watch that video to decide which vehicle to buy is clearly better suited to stick to the streets in a 4Runner.

They are basically a Land Cruiser Prado which although sort of a Diet Land Cruiser is pretty well respected globally as an offroader, probably moreso than the Ranger based Everest.

The video reeks of desperation though, I love it. :icon_twisted:

I like the 4Runner, I think they are a pretty good looking truck. Way too expensive though, the used market was insane for them too, even before this stuff that s going on.

I would like one with two doors, keep the same wheel base, and a manual trans.

I lobbied for a used one as I didn't know how she would really like the removable roof in the Bronco for wind noise and leak potential and (a year ago) we could have went out and bought a used one any time we wanted.

Nope, no colors she liked. :icon_confused:

There are rumors of the Bronco hardtops coming apart, there is an outer skin, inner honeycomb core and a inner skin. I guess they are not staying put together around the edges. One guy had the honeycomb pattern come thru the outer skin on his. Not sure what to make of all that.

And another rumor is after their continued struggles Webasto (who is the current hardtop supplier) lost the contract to build the painted hardtops.

Only problem is people were asking like $15K for a 20year old 4 runner with 200K miles. The newer used ones I looked at were only a couple grand less then new ones.....

You could still get one.

As opposed to a $45k Bronco some time in the next 5 years...

Wait till you drive the electric 150 Jim........

It is a monster for a daily....just like the bronco is for off road .

I screwed up the pictures of a bronco I seen in Utah with a tent like Jim had on the loan ranger.... It was moving so I was unprepared....it had non stock wheels and flares so they were cheating.

Some cameras have a mode where they take a short movie and you can find a frame that is focus that way... if you happened to have it in that mode.
