And they had a Outer Banks which is probably my least favorite trim.

It had a 2.7/10 speed automatic

And I didn't notice at first but they have a body color patch on the inside of the doors.

I went back and compared with the CG one to confirm it wasn't something tied to the OB interior color scheme. People have made a lot of noise about the Navy Pier interior, at least for white I like it (I could see it clashing with some exterior colors though)

Anyway, initial impressions.

Seats are very comfortable. Everybody raves about how awesome the MGV is... I remain skeptical. It feels pretty thin to me, it reminds me of the padded vinyl on my grandparent's card table we used to eat on during the holidays if you know what I mean. I guess I was expecting something tougher feeling like I guess ag grade vinyl if that is even a thing (like the stuff they make tractor seats out of)

The windshield is weird. It is like they used a normal dash and just hinged the windshield more vertical, the windshield and top edge seems like a long ways away. But looking at pictures of me in it it doesn't really look that far away? Windshield/forward visibility feels like a gunport on a bunker. That is probably the biggest downer I had on the thing, the windshield dynamic just felt weird in ways I couldn't quite put my finger on in the short time I got to play with them. The pump adjustable seat it is an awesome invention to get past the too high/too low debacle.

People make noise about the dash feeling cheap, tapping on it like I will never do in actual ownership I couldn't really get that vibe. The console kind of did, I got to wondering on the way home if a guy pulled it apart and stuck that noise cancelling stuff on the inside if that would kill the echo noise.

They put more and more plastic bits in the engine bay with each new model, refresh, and redesign. Easier and cheaper to make, I’m sure. For the average end user, probably not. big deal. Most of them don’t know how to change the oil, let alone fix stuff. For us, it’s a big negative.

As far as the adhesive on the hood and support structure, that’s been a thing for a while and it seems to hold ok. Probably easier to do hood repairs with it that way as well.

Yeah, my 85 has the hood glued together too... but mine doesn't look like it is pulling apart.

I’m a fan, especially the wild track package. The 4 door ones are meh. Reminds me of a new Bronco II.

You just goin and fingerin another man's truck!

I think all the plastic stuff, not only does it hide all the hoses and sensors and shit, but it helps muffle the sound of the noisy direct Injection engines.

Most cars are getting so quiet it's actually counterproductive. If you ever drive in an electric car you notice right away that the lack of noise from an engine makes other sounds more noticeable. You hear every little squeek and creek from the interior and wind noise passing under the car. People often complain that the "interior is noisy" on electric vehicles when they are no different then a gas engine vehicle, you just don't have a giant white noise generator under the hood to mask it. Alot of companies now use the vehicles audio system to "pump in" white noise or even fake engine sounds EVEN ON A GAS ENGINE to distract from the utter quietness so people stop complaining that every knob and gizmo in the interior is rattling. So they made the car so quiet that they need to make fake noise to shut people up...

Honda had a famously absurd system with their multi displacement engines because when cylinders would shut down in "eco mode" the engine sounded different and scared people, so in "eco mode" the stereo plays fake engine noises to make it sound like the engine is still running on all cylinders...

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Probably cheaper and lighter is the two big draws to it.

I am talking things like plastic tubes for the coolant.

Higher trims do have a underhood mat to shield noise.

They are using plastic tubes for coolant instead of rubber hose?

Ford has been using plastic tubing for coolant lines for at least 20 years... :dunno:

I saw one on the lot of my small local Ford dealer. I was actually surprised to see it.
