I am cleaning up the wiring on my 89 BII. I found what I think is an aftermarket car alarm. Let me know what you think. There are a few questions in here too..check it out.

There is a horn of some sort on the driver's side in the engine bay (all of this is driver's side). The horn, as well as a harness that runs through the firewall is very poorly splice into the exisiting harness along with 3 relays. I am not really sure what the last one is, but it looks like a relay. Are ANY of these from the factory?

These wires go through the fire wall and eventually connect to a key locking thing and a mystery black box. There is also some sketchy splicing and a wonderful jerry-rigged fuse deal.

So what is it??? A car alarm??

Yes, looks like alarm stuff

All the B2 engine relays should be on passenger side with fuse box, assuming its the same as a Ranger in 1989

The "this side up" boxes are probably motion sensors, but just a guess
Relay might be for the siren/horn

Seco-larm still has a webpage and still sells car alarms so maybe they have older wiring diagrams???

I don't count birthday's anymore...just happy to be looking down at the ground instead of looking up
Its an Artificial Intelligence Self Destruct Device....makes vehicle go BOOM when unauthorized people try to steal vehicle !!!
But, if you google up SECO-LARM, the wording on the black box, you'll find it an alarm product by that company. Still in business, and they list numerous alarms under their vehicle sub-heading.
Can't make out the small lettering on the box in your pic...maybe a model # ?

Kinda fun figuring it out. I am not happy about having to fix that crap splice under the dash though...argh. BTW, what is this yellow thing that is a little further down the harness?

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

According to the symbols, there's a diode and a resistor in there wired in parallel. But I have no idea why.

It looks like stock wiring...I'll dig deeper and if I find out I will post it up to this thread so others can know if they need to. Thanks guys!

Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
The yellow thing is stock; don't remember off hand what for, but it's supposed to be there.

The rest of the stuff is aftermarket security. You got a couple of sensors, a starter kill, and the keyed button with cable is (what's left) a hood lock.

Curiosity got me, so I looked it up in the EVTM. The yellow thing is the Brake Warning Diode And Resistor. It is original and your truck needs it.

The rest of the stuff you pictured is aftermarket junk, and you can get rid of it if you'd like.
