I am currently in the process of fixing up my dad's 97 4x4 ranger to be my first vehicle. One of the things we needed to do was replace the clutch and slave cylinder. The clutch is in, and the transmission is mostly bolted in.

However, I didnt put the bolts in a safe location, and lost the two top bolts. I have tried finding them, but have had no luck. I decided my best luck would be to try and buy new ones.

My question is, where can I get them? Can I buy a set of bolts online? Do I have to go to my local dealership to get them? Can I get them at a parts store? Or am I just screwed? Does anyone know what type of bolts they are (length, threads, etc). I would like to get this figured out asap since I start a job soon and have school. Thanks.

The trans is a 5 speed manual and the motor is a 4 liter if that helps at all

Best bet is a junk yard. The top 4 bolts are all the same length, so you have two examples in hand already.

While I would get some and get them in the top two are easily accessible from the top and you won't break anything driving around for a few weeks being down a bolt or two.

At one point I drove for over a year with only the two long bolts at the dowels installed.

I would take one of your existing bolts and head to the hardware store.

Thanks for the fairly quick responses. Me and my dad are going to go do some work on it tomorrow. I think I may know where 1 of the bolts are. If I can drive it with 1 bolt missing for a while until I can find one then I guess that would work.
