4.0 Runs ok, just ok, at start up then after warm up and on shirt drive, heat suddenly blows cold, has pushed coolant to over flow reservoir, crack open cap to relase any (alit of) trapped air, add more coolant, fine... next day same thing....
Also has a miss after warm up and drive... only while at idle or lower rpm like 2500... disappears with harder acceleration...
Compression test shows cyl at #1-125
#2-145 #3-150 #4-125 #5-145 #6-125
compression test done cold...
I dont see coolant in oil or oil in coolant...
Have done cool system flush, good thermostat and good water pump....
Does not show to be running hot

Reads like a blown head gasket or cracked head

Do Glove Test to confirm or take that off the table
Cold engine
Pull 4 wire connector from Coil Pack, you want a no start
Remove rad cap
Drain coolant so its down 2" or so below cap opening, or don't refill after driving, lol

Pull off overflow hose from rad cap opening and plug it with Vacuum cap, gum, putty, ???

Put a latex glove over rad cap opening and seal it with rubberband or zip tie
Or use a balloon, or even a condom, lol, instead of a glove

Cooling system is now sealed

Crank over engine and watch the glove
If it starts to Pulse you have a head gasket leak or cracked head(no way to tell the difference until heads are off)
If no Pulse then you don't

If it starts to pulse you can pull 1 spark plug at a time and crank engine again, when pulsing stops the last spark plug removed was from leaking cylinder
You can have multiple leaks so if pulsing gets less but doesn't stop keep removing spark plugs
This last part won't help you fix the issue its more just so you known where to look for issues when heads are pulled off

Did that a little bit ago... its the #5 cylinder...
Think im ok to just pull that one side?
Since i have the glove test showing... and
A sucking sound every revolution into exhaust im betting its not just a gasket... but i do have 2 other heads that are visually good, neither were a problem when they came off... ima have clean test and surfaced and use one

Well head gaskets don't "just blow" and heads don't "just crack" out of the blue, engine was overheated, for sure

And BOTH heads would have been overheated, only one failed but the other may be close, never know

Only another 6 exhaust bolts and 8 heads bolts to pull the other head, and one head gasket and exhaust gasket(or another head, lol)

I don't think you are supposed to put anything in the gaskets or bolts.

Run a head bolt with a little oil on it down each bolt hole in the block to make sure its clean and threads are OK

No sealant on head gasket

Bolt holes have debris and oil down in them... compressed air? Then chase threads w block clean out tap?
What about old gasket debris that falls into oil and coolant passages?
