I swapped the belt and the squeal disappeared. It's very disconcerting though, because I don't know what caused the belt to go bad in the first place! When the engine's running, the belt tracks as straight and true as the factory system, so what caused it to jump onto the power steering pump lip and thereby stretch?I added power steering to my Ranger. Went from V-belt to serpentine. Wanted to squeal. Had to shim the water pump pulley out 3/16" to get it into alignment. No more squeal.
The tensioner works well--the belt is nice and tight. The pulleys line up nicely, too. I'm really scratching my head over this because I need this machine to run reliably
