That wet rear end could also be an axle shaft seal.. You'll find out soon enough.
Bleh, I didn't even think about that. But never seen that happen before either. Borrowed a jack from work, and after I refill it and hopefully get it working again and take it apart, I'll find out. I haven't been noticing the brake fluid reservoir emptying... so maybe.

It's not a terrible job to change the axle shaft bearing and seal. Plus it gives you an excuse to learn more about your truck and change the (possibly very) old differential fluid.

I did a technical article on that job, think it’s still in the tech section.

.... found it. Copy/paste isn’t as easy on my phone as it is on the laptop.

Thanks man, I watched a few videos last night too, but really appreciate a nice step by step article like yours. I'm going to tackle this sometime this week. But I need a few tools, coming back from not really having any automotive tools the past few years. I'm fighting the "might as well" on getting bearings too because the seal/bearing combo is just $10ea. :)

I said it yesterday too... Some of these low cost parts that have flooded the market are pretty much junk. Might be better off spending twice that price for the good stuff.

Yukon Gear and Axle is a pretty well know name... but at the price point you posted... I suspect it is a cheap Chinese bearing trying to use the Yukon name to sell their cheap bearings... although I don't know that for sure.

I found this on a quick google search use the actual Yukon Gear part number...

Edit... Not saying that is the bearing you need... I think it was for a 7.5 rear end.

I’d pull the axle shafts first and inspect the area the bearing rides on, look at what you can see on the bearing. Just because a seal is bad doesnt mean the bearing is too. And of course there’s always a chance that not only is a bearing bad but the axle shaft might need replaced if where the bearing rides has damage.

Pulled the tire and drum. Wheel cylinder leak, not axle. Also my parking brake cable is broken in the drum. Removed everything, cleaned, tomorrow I'll reassemble with the new cylinder. Semi-long term I would like a disc brake conversion, I hate drums :ROFLMAO:
