I do use Marvel Mystery Oil in my vehicles. I don't know how much sludge it will clean or how much lifter tick it will clear out. I usually put some in my motor oil shortly before an oil change on my Grand Marquis. It usually burns about a quart every 5000 miles, so I top it off about 100 miles before I change the oil. The motor is pretty clean from when I opened it up a couple years ago to do the timing chain tensioners.
I do use Lucas Upper Cylinder Lube as a fuel additive, with no ill effects after thousands of miles.
You can go down the rabbit hole of fuel additives, Seafoam, Lucas Upper Cylinder Lube, Marvel, etc. An engine that has 275,000 miles, burns oil, and has a lifter tick, is running on borrowed time. Keep putting GOOD oil in it and hope it will run for awhile yet.
