Following this website suggestions, I was going to clean the maf but find it installed with those miserable screws - torx with a center pin. Anyone know where I get a removal tool for those?

They're normally called something like "security torx bit" and can be found on Amazon or Ebay quite easily. Your local Napa or other major parts store may also have some.

I got a whole set of security bits and a driver a few decades ago from MCM electronics. has several sizes of each bit: security torx, security allen, phillips looking bits except they have three blades instead of four, flat blades with the center carved out to get the screws with two little holes on each side of the head, and two sizes of the Nintendo style screws, they kind of look like reverse torx but are much more complicated. I think I paid 19 bucks for it. best 19 bucks I ever spent.

A small long nosed pair of vice grips works really well on those, and also, on stripped screws.

I usually just go to the local hardware, parts, or tool store and buy them. They are hardly rare or difficult to get.

Harbor Freight Tools will have them if you can’t find them anywhere else.

I took mine off with a vice grip and then replaced them with stainless steel allen head screws.

I'd do the same - replace with stainless Allen head screws but what size and thread?

I got mine at harbor freight also! once you have it you don't need to change the screws because you will "always" have the tool necessary which, comes in handy for other places on the truck.

Which reminds me the "ping" back is. I guess it's time to clean it again.

Not to thread jack, but does anyone know the specific size? I know I had to get one years back for another Ford I had.

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Kinda smallish but not tiny.

I'm pretty sure it is a T-20.
