I would love a shorter throw, but I'm A) cheap, and B) don't want the noise of an aftermarket shifter. I like the quiet I get with the stock rubber-impregnated stick.

Has anyone taken the longer R2 stub/ball and spaced up an R1 shifter cup somehow? I suppose I could try to find a buddy with a CNC to make something for me, but I wondered how custom you guys have gone with it. I have seen people modify an R1 shifter stub for an R2 shifter stick, but I'm going down the rabbit hole and starting to get confused.

Short story: Want a shorter throw AND I'm really cheap/poor.

Simply put it would require a shorter stick, unless there's some way to tighten it up inside.
Good luck :)

I don't mind how tall it is, I just want more length from the cup to the shift rail. I wondered if anyone had experimented with one of the other shifter stubs and spacing up the cup.

I'd recommend spending the extra dollars for a Hurst. It makes a wold of difference. By far the most best modification to any vehicle in my opinion. I was reluctant to pay the money for one at first but I was blown away by the different it made. Worth every dollar in my opinion.

R1, RNHD and R2 stubs are not interchangable.

The chrome FX4 Level II shifter is a little shorter with different ergonomics, I like mine.

Core also makes aftermarket shifters for M5OD's but they use a non-isolated Hurst stick.
